Snow Removal

In an attempt to prevent endangering people forced to walk on roadways during snow events, the police department enforced the ordinance requiring that sidewalks be shoveled within 48 hours for residential properties and by the end of the next business day for commercial properties. A very small percentage of the township's residents and businesses failed to clear their sidewalks during the allotted time, according to the winter newsletter. Those people were issued citations which required the payment of a fine. The enforcement will continue this year during any and all snow events.  The small percentage of locations that failed to comply last year will be checked first this year. To the overwhelming number of people who went outside to shovel last year following the snow storms, thank you!  Please remember that the Boy Scouts, Upper Moreland High School Key Club and a variety of other civic groups may be able to help you shovel your walk if you make arrangements in advance. Whether you are home or not, you are responsible for clearing your sidewalk so that everyone can be safe during dangerous snow emergencies.
