Gymnast Wins 'Be an Olympian' Photo Contest
Patch reader Deana Pellitta, of Newtown, wins our "Be an Olympian" photo contest.
Patch readers in Bucks and Montgomery picked a photo by Deana Pellitta as the best photo in our Be an Olympian contest.
The picture is of 9-year-old Sophia Pellitta. Sophia wanted her mother to enter this picture of her doing a split because she's proud of the accomplishment. It took a while for her to be able to do it.
"This is her third year of gymnastics," her mother, Deana, said. "She especially enjoys the balance beam and floor routines. She has dreams of Olympic gold for sure ... 2020 here she comes!"
The picture was taken at her class at the Newtown Athletic Club.
The 10 finalists brought in more than 120 votes, and Pellita's picture got 37 percent of that total. The runner up, Ed Campbell's photo of a track competition, got 24 percent.
As the winner, Pellitta wins a $100 gift card. Congratulations to all our future Olympians, and their photographers!

She's at the Newtown Athletic Club taking gymnastics - I recognize that gymnastics studio! They have fabulous coaches and facilities not just for gymnastics, but the whole family!

Pamela, I think he's referring to the children in Doylestown or something who were sighted by police for drawing chalk pictures in the street. http://warminster.patch.com/articles/should-drawing-on-the-sidewalk-be-a-criminal-offense-b7c7e4ca
