Road Closures for Rt. 611 this Weekend
PA Turnpike announces construction along Easton, both northbound and southbound, and provides recommended detours.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises that Easton Road (State Route 611) will be closed to traffic and detoured in both directions between Fitzwatertown Road and West Mill Road in Upper Moreland Township Saturday, July 14 from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday morning.
The detour is required to allow Loftus Construction to safely remove steel beams from the Turnpike mainline bridge located approximately one-half mile south of the ramps to the Willow Grove Interchange.
Once the detour is implemented there will not be any vehicle or pedestrian traffic allowed through the construction zone, located between Maryland Road and Wyandotte Road, until the road is reopened Sunday morning, July 15.
The detour has been posted and motorists should follow these PennDOT-approved alternate routes to travel:
- South - Follow Easton Road (State Route 611); turn left on West Mill Road; turn right on York Road (State Route 263); turn right on Fitzwatertown Road. Detour ends at Easton Road.
- North – Follow Easton Road (State Route 611); turn right on Fitzwatertown Road; turn left on York Road (State Route 263); turn left on West Mill Road. Detour ends at Easton Road.
Local traffic on Easton Road will continue have access during the closure southbound to Maryland Road (Marriott Courtyard and Carrabba’s) and northbound to Wyandotte Road.
Motorists are urged to obey posted speed limits and use extra caution when approaching the work zone. Construction-zone speed limits will be enforced and fines will be doubled.
