Second Alarmers Select New Executive Director

Renee Bates will fill the role vacated by Jamie Haddon, who resigned in February.

Just under two months after previous executive director , the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad announced that long-time Captain of Operations, Renee Bates, will assume the role.  

Prior to her appointment, Bates, through her position as Captain of Operations, was tasked with various duties, including providing emergency medical care, supervising crews, training, coordinating continuing education and ensuring quality assurance. 

Since joining Second Alarmers as a volunteer in 1992, Bates quickly rose through the ranks becoming a sergeant and secretary on the nonprofit association's board of directors.

Bates later transitioned into a fulltime paramedic position and later became captain of operations. She has also served as the deputy chief of Community Ambulance Association, Ambler.

Her responsibilities there included management of career personnel, scheduling, payroll, grant writing, community relations, director of training, budget development, and annual the fund drive.

Second Alarmers is one of the largest EMS providers in Montgomery County. Crews responds to more than 12,000 emergency calls a year to provide medical and rescue services in Hatboro, Jenkintown, Rockledge, as well as Abington, Upper Dublin, Upper Moreland and Whitpain townships.

Second Alarmers is comprised of 123 employees and 100 volunteers, delivering service from five stations, including a 's downtown.
