UPDATE: UMPD Looking for Owners of Lost Puppies

The puppies were found by Upper Moreland Police around Lakevue Drive and Mansfield Road in Willow Grove.

[Updated 5:20 p.m., 5-10-12]

According to Upper Moreland Police Chief Thomas Nestel, no one came forward to claim the lost puppies, reported yesterday.

Nestel, in a correspondence, said that the puppies were taken to a local shelter for further care.

"Sadly, the puppies were not claimed which makes it seem that this is an abandonment and not an escape," Nestel said.  "They were taken to the Roslyn SPCA where they will be cared for and presumably put up for adoption."

[Original Story posted 5-9-12 below:]

Upper Moreland Police reported to the area of Lakevue and Mansfield to investigate a call about suspicious circumstances at around noon today, and found several lost puppies instead.

UMPD describes the puppies with features on their faces similar to that of a 'mask.'

"We would like to know where these desperados reside so that they can be returned to their happy home," UMPD wrote in the Nixle release. "If you know these little darlings please call 215-657-4700."

While it is a shame that no one claimed the puppies, and may actually have been abandoned, I like what reader Susan Worth-LaManna said on the UM-WG Patch Facebook: 'I do hope that they will be someone's Mother's Day gift.'
