Members of Boy Scout Troop 354 in Willow Grove spent a recent weekend making much-needed exterior repairs to The Village Players of Hatboro.

The group of 20, comprised mainly of scouts and a handful of parents, installed two permanent cement safety barriers in front of the air-conditioner unit in the parking lot to protect it from cars.

The troop also removed rotted wood trim at the theater's main entrance and replaced it with new wood trim and molding. The newly installed materials were also caulked, sanded, and the wood, including the two lettered signs above the entrance, were repainted.

"The Village (Players) theater looks vastly improved, thanks to all of the people who pitched in to assist with my project," Patrick Matthews, who led the renovation as part of his Eagle Scout project wrote in an e-mail. "I really hope this 'makeover' will draw more people to (patronize) the Village Players and enjoy the productions there."
