Casey, Kane shrug off primary challenges; Montgomery County results.
Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney had little trouble winning the Pennsylvania Republican primary for President of the United States, with his closest competition coming from a man who no longer is in the race. Romney finished with 57 percent of the vote, followed by former Sen. Rick Santorum at 19 percent. Santorum withdrew from the race earlier this month. Texas congressman Ron Paul finished third with 13 percent, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was last with 11 percent of the vote. Montgomery County Republicans gave Romney a more emphatic nod than the rest of the state, awarding him about 67 percent of the vote. Santorum captured about 13 percent of the county vote, which still gave him 44 more votes than libertarian …

The Upper Moreland School District had less than two days to prepare for an event that may have far-reaching significance to the political climate of Upper Moreland.
When the Kathleen Kane 'Get Out the Vote' rally ended around 7:30 p.m., April 12, the rally’s featured speaker, former president Bill Clinton was immediately mobbed. But, instead of the secret service gentlemen, with their rigid postures and curly earpieces, whisking the apparently still ‘rock-star’ popular 42nd president away, Bill decided to linger for a while. “Pennsylvania has always been Clinton country,” Frank Keel, spokesperson for the Kane campaign, said. “Both Bill and Hillary.” Standing at the same level as the adoring event attendees, the former president was separated only by a thin chain, arranged in a semi-circle to the platform, where he, Democratic state attorney general candidate Kane and Bucks County commissioner Diane …

Addressing an audience of over 500 people, Bill Clinton discusses his endorsement of state attorney general candidate Kathleen Kane.
By approximately 5:15 p.m., yesterday afternoon, Dr. Warren Rosen and his wife Carol had been patiently waiting in line for a little over a half-an-hour. Standing in the Upper Moreland High School parking lot, the Rosens marked the halfway point in a line easily hundreds of people thick – and quickly growing by the minute. The couple, who travelled from Rydal, were waiting to attend a “Get Out the Vote” rally in support of Democratic state attorney general candidate Kathleen Kane. Neither were shy in expressing their excitement over seeing the rally’s special guest speaker: former President Bill Clinton. “He’s a great man, why wouldn’t we want to come see a great man?” Warren Rosen asked. “He’s always entertaining, and it’s enjoyable …

Over 500 people came out to the Kathleen Kane Get Out the Vote Rally, which featured former President Bill Clinton.
If you were among the over 500 people in the audience at tonight’s Kathleen Kane Get out the Vote Rally, you could certainly tell when former President Bill Clinton took the stage. It’s as if those gathered couldn’t help themselves to provide round after round of applause all throughout his speech, as he was advocating Kane’s candidacy for Pennsylvania State Attorney General. The main idea behind both speeches of Kane and Clinton, a former attorney general himself, was that they asked voters to choose a candidate based off prosecution experience. In the coming full article on the evening's events, Patch will also provide feedback from a few of the hundreds of residents, describe the efficient scramble township and school district …

Citing personal and property safety, Brooks Street residents came to the Upper Moreland School Board for ways in averting flying lacrosse balls into their homes.
Two Brooks Street parents attended the April 10 Facilities and Operation committee meeting in order to bring light to a pressing concern. “In our yards is a collection of lacrosse balls,” Regina Pagano, a Brooks Street resident, said. Prior to the meeting, Pagano, along with her next-door neighbor Kate Hess, described how their respective residence, located directly across the street from the former Cold Spring Elementary School site, has recently been under the continual bombardment from lacrosse balls. “They practice every day, and the only times they weren’t there, would be the times they are at away games,” Pagano said. She is referring to the Upper Moreland High School Boys Lacrosse team, whose practice and home-playing field is …

Nate Kleinman, 29, of Jenkintown, seeks to oust Allyson Schwartz in the 13th Congressional District
Running on a platform of supporting the middle-class and bringing jobs back to America, 29-year-old Jenkintown resident Nate Kleinman is seeking to secure the Democratic nomination for the 13th Congressional District in the upcoming April primary. Kleinman, who is an active member of Occupy Philadelphia, said a contributing factor in his decision to run was a dissatisfaction with the decisions being made by his current representative, Allyson Schwartz. "There were a number of causes, but mainly, we're going down a path where our very democracy is threatened, and I don't believe that Allyson has been on the right side of a number of issues in Washington that have a direct impact on the character of our country," said Kleinman. Those issues …
