EASTERN's Band of Artists to Play Second Saturday
Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Commercial Art students, along with two students from Lehigh County Career and Technical Institute, will be performing acoustically as the “Band of Artists” at the Village Pretzel on Old York Road in Hatboro for the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce’s Second Saturday on Saturday, June 9 from 1 - 3 p.m. These entrepreneurial high school students will have a tip jar available to help offset the cost of the SkillsUSA National competition in Kansas City in late June. SkillsUSA is EASTERN’s student leadership organization as well as a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.
The “Band of Artists” are EASTERN Commercial Art students: Zoe Reynolds, a junior at Springfield Township High School (vocals and ukulele); Justin Cornelius, a junior from Cheltenham High School (guitar); Hayley Roche, a junior from Upper Dublin High School (vocals and guitar); and from Lehigh County Career and Technical Institute Alex Abruzzi (backup vocals) and Danny Abruzzi (guitar and vocals).
More About Village Pretzels
Village Pretzels is renowned in the area for its Bavarian soft pretzels and great deals - after 5pm, hot dogs are only $1. Village Pretzels has been in business since 1972, but owners Steve and Jean Leaventon opened a shop at this location eight years ago. Village Pretzels has a 1950s-style checkerboard floor, and the walls are lined with drawings done by local children. The Leaventons give back to their community by often donating gift certificates to various organizations and charities.
