2 Mosquitos Test Positive for West Nile Virus

Two mosquitos have tested positive for West Nile Virus in Upper Moreland.

Despite three county mosquito sprays in Upper Moreland last month, at least two mosquitos have not only thrived, but tested positive for West Nile Virus.

According to the Pennsylvania West Nile Virus Control Program, the pair of infected mosquitos were among 35 positive samples collected on Tuesday. Besides positives among mosquitos and birds throughout the state, a human also tested positive for the virus, which can be fatal.

The Department of Environmental Protection, Montgomery County West Nile Virus Control Program staff are responding with additional surveillance and control as needed. It is not clear if the county will do another spray in Upper Moreland.
