Dr. Oz Helps Crash Victim in Lower Southampton

The celebrity doctor was one of the first on the scene of a crash Saturday.

Celebrity Dr. Mehmet Oz was one of the first people on the scene of a two-car accident in Lower Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Oz, who attended medical school at The University Pennsylvania, told The Philadelphia Inquirer that he was on the was to his in-laws' house when he saw the crash at Philmont Avenue and Street Road. Oz's wife was raised in Huntingdon Valley.

"We were two cars back when the car in front was making a left-hand turn," Oz told The Inquirer. "It's a very dangerous intersection. A car crossing the intersection hit the car turning head-on. It was like a scene right out of a movie. I thought for sure there would be fatalities. Luckily, there were not."

Volunteer firefighter Chris Simpson on Saturday Tweeted a photo of himself and Oz, saying, "First on scene to a multi-vehicle multi-injury accident doing patient care side by side with Dr. Oz."

Patch has reached out to local police for additional information about the crash.
