EASTERN Signs Commercial Art Articulation Agreement with Penn State Abington

EASTERN's Commercial Art program covers everything from conceptual drawing and design to a professional portfolio.

On October 15, 2012, Eastern Center for Arts and Technology’s (EASTERN) Administrative Director, Tom Allen; Assistant Director, Kevin Reilly; and Commercial Art Instructor, Nicole Mohrey met with the Chancellor of Penn State Abington, Dr. Karen Wiley Sandler; and Penn State Abington’s Arts Coordinator, William Cromar, to sign a new articulation agreement for EASTERN students moving on to Penn State Abington’s Art program.

This new agreement saves EASTERN Commercial Art students money. Penn State Abington waives the application fee for those EASTERN students entering the Arts & Humanities program as a pre-major with the intention to declare Art as a major, should the students meet the necessary requirements, including a successful Art Portfolio review. Complementing a strong general studio foundation, Penn State Abington art majors choose from among five media concentrations: drawing and painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and new media. The Art major prepares students for professional careers or continuing graduate study in fine art, graphic design, industrial design, architecture, fashion, and other visual disciplines.

EASTERN’s Commercial Art program covers everything from conceptual drawing and design to a professional portfolio. Students learn the value and application of their unique styles in both design and illustration. Students use industry-standard software on the Macintosh platform. Software used includes Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash.
