Because Earth Day (April 22) falls on the Easter holiday weekend this year, many organizations are observing the day in honor of our planet by hosting celebrations and festivals this weekend instead.

Where/When: Lehman’s Memorial United Methodist Church, 300 S. York Road, Hatboro; April 14, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Why go: The annual event at the church has all kinds of treasures available at a good price. is April 16, when anything left after the Rummage Sale is free!

Pricing: Free admission

Where/When: Fresh Ground Coffee House, Willow Grove Bible Church, 213 Everett Ave., Willow Grove; April 15, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Why go: "Bending the Rules of the Lead Sheet" is a clinic taught by Carl Bahner on drums, Madison Rast on bass and Mike Lorenz on guitar. The clinic is for high school and college students, and those interested in perfecting their jazz skills.

Pricing: $10

Where/When: Upper Moreland Middle School, 4000 Orangemans Road, Upper Moreland; April 15, 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Why go: The annual Festa Italiana Buffet Dinner, catered by Carabbas, will help raise funds for the eighth-grade trip to Canada in June. The menu includes Caesar salad, chicken Marsala, penne with Pomodoro sauce, bread and herb mix, drinks and desserts.

Pricing: $15 adults, $8 children ages 3 to 8

Where/When: Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, 533 Foundry Road, Norristown; April 16, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Why go: The Habitat for Humanity ReStore will host “green” demonstrations, a planting station for kids, recycling bins for televisions and electronics, giveaways, music and refreshments.

Pricing: Free, and the first 600 people receive a free pair of gardening gloves

Where/When: War Memorial Park, Mineral Avenue at York Road, Willow Grove; April 16, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Why go: It’s Willow Grove’s 300th anniversary, and to get ready for the festivities (and just in time for Earth Day!), the community will gather to clean up and ready the park for anniversary festivities. Jobs include trash pickup, spreading mulch, cutting back overgrowth and more. Bags, vests, gloves, rakes and shovels will be provided. If you have them, bring your clippers, gas-powered leaf blowers and other landscaping tools to help. Volunteer as long as you want.
