K-9 Officer Joins National Night Out

Upper Moreland K-9 officer Brian Rems is pretty attached to his partner.

Rems and the almost 5-year-old Belgian shepherd are, after all, practically inseparable. The friendly black dog lives with Rems and is sort of like a pet.

Except his pet is trained in police work, with a concentration in explosives. Canines spend 26 weeks training in all, Rems said, noting that 15 weeks of the dog's training was on patrolling.

Rems and his partner, along with other area first responders and law enforcement, were on hand at Horsham's National Night Out event Tuesday night.

Upper Moreland's K-9 officer will also be at Hatboro's National Night Out on Friday evening.
