According to Sue Mathers, Kiwanis of Old York Road president-elect, proceeds from the event will also benefit the Kiwanis International “The Elminiate Project.”

Mathers, who is also the nurse at Upper Moreland High School, said that the project is a combined effort between Kiwanis International and UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. Mathers explained that maternal fetal tetanus is a painful death for newborn babies.

According to www.kiwanis.org, in order to eliminate maternal fetal tetanus, “more than 100-million mothers and their future babies must be immunized.”

She added that this is the second year Kiwanis Club of Old York Road has raised funds for this project.
