PennDOT to Close Limekiln Pike for Six Months

The detour is due to a bridge reconstruction in Cheltenham Township.

Limekiln Pike will be closed and detoured for six months starting Tuesday, July 5 between Route 309 (Ogontz Avenue) and Cheltenham Avenue for the rehabilitation of the structurally deficient bridge over Rock Creek in Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said today.

Limekiln Pike through traffic will be detoured over Route 309 (Ogontz Avenue), Easton Road, and Cheltenham Avenue.  Local access will be maintained on Limekiln Pike up to the construction area.

Under this project, PennDOT will rehabilitate the stone arch bridge to preserve its structural integrity and enhance safety and efficiency for the traveling public.  The work includes bridge beam, parapet and deck repairs, and new paving, guiderail and pavement markings.  Work is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
