Psst! Your Neighbors May Be Paying Less Rent

If you rent in Upper Moreland Township area, you may be interested to know that your monthly rent might be higher than your neighbors.

According to City Data, of the 24,338 residents in the township, 29 percent percent rent. Those 29 percent will find it rather interesting that the township is divided when it comes to what rent can cost per month.

A website called RichBlocksPoorBlocks.com has broken down these facts into a very digestable, detailed, yet understandable interactive map.

As you can see from the image, those in Upper Moreland are broken into four areas. According to the site, the map uses data from Census reports as its source.

"All data comes from the 2007 to 2011 American Community Survey. The statewide middle range covers Census Tracts which have a median monthly rent higher than the lowest 40 percent - and lower than the highest 40 percent - of this state's Census Tracts," says the map's "disclaimer."

Those living in the northwestern portion of the township are paying around $931 per month in average rent. If you cross over the township, you'll pay around $72 more per year for the same size place.

Want to rent on the east side of Easton Road? Crossing that street can save you $47 per month, as those between Easton and Davisville roads average $891 per month instead of $938 average rent west of it.

Are you renting between Edge Hill Road and Davisville? If you stay below Overlook Avenue, you can rent for $689 per month average. Are you looking north of Overlook? Expect to pay around $1,032 per month. That's $343 per month in rent just by simply crossing a street.
