When the Pathmark in the Marketplace at Huntingdon Valley closed in March, it left a 52,000 square foot vacant spot in the shopping center, located in Huntingdon Valley.
At , New Century Associates, the Marketplace at Huntingdon Valley’s property owner and manager, heeded residents’ call to keep the former Pathmark location a supermarket.
According to New Century Associates’ owner, Stan Casacio, the company was looking at completing a lease with one of four interested major supermarket chains, “sooner, rather than later.”
In a recent interview with Patch, Casacio said that the supermarket candidates have been narrowed to one.
“I’m getting close to an official announcement,” Casacio said. “But, they haven’t signed a lease for it, yet.”
Casacio said he couldn’t release the name of the potential major supermarket, pending the completion of the lease agreement. However, he expressed high praise and support for the potential tenant, should the deal go through.
“It’s going to be a wonderful addition to the area,” Casacio said. “It’s really exciting and unbelievable what they plan on investing in.”
Despite the secrecy, industry insiders may have already leaked the name of the potential supermarket tenant. Casacio pointed to the Marketplace at Huntingdon Valley suddenly becoming inundated with calls about other vacant properties in the shopping center.
