Woodforest National Bank to hold Community Day

The Woodforest National Bank marks its fourth year in Upper Moreland with a charitable Community Day event that will feature Darth Vader and the Willow Grove Fire Company.

The Upper Moreland branch of will hold its first Community Day this Saturday, June 30. The event’s featured attractions promises to both entertain and inform attendees - and do it all for a good cause.

The Woodforest National Bank’s Upper Moreland branch holds its operations inside the . The Community Day event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Walmart parking lot.

Robert Loftlin, Woodforest National Bank Upper Moreland branch manager, told Patch. He said the event is a great way for Woodforest Bank to give back to the community it serves.

“And, it’s a great way to donate to those who don’t have and serve them, as well.”

According to Loftlin, aside from marking the fourth anniversary of the branch in Upper Moreland, the goal of the bank’s Community Day is to raise funds for the bank’s charitable organization, the “Woodforest Charitable Foundation.”

This nonprofit organization, according to the Woodforest Charitable Foundation website, is committed to, “making an effective and positive change in communities, by providing funding for other nonprofit charities. The foundation typically chooses charities that focus on social-service programs within communities that Woodforest National Bank serves.

In the greater Willow Grove area, such charities that benefited from the foundation include: Philabundance, Central PA Food Bank and Chester County Food Bank.

“Our goal for that day is $3,000 for the [foundation], which has never been done in one day by a branch,” Loftlin said.

Loftlin said that this is the first year Woodforest National Bank has committed to organizing a larger community event. The bank held a smaller event in October last year, which featured autograph-signing by Total Impact Wrestling stars Bobby Roode, Mickie James, Kazarian and Traci Brooks.

“This is our first time doing a community event this large with so many vendors,” Loftlin said.

According to Loftlin, each vendor will have a bucket at their respective booths, collecting donations for the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Several local businesses and nonprofits are expected to participate with the Community Day event.

Such vendors include:

  • The Party Continues Entertainment
  • Bill Apter – Legendary Pro Wrestling Journalist
  • 501st Vader’s Fist – Star Wars costume enthusiasts.
  • Extreme Rising Wrestling -  featuring  Shane “The Franchise” Douglas and other wrestlers.
  • Marvel and DC Comic Characters – As presented by Eric “The Smoke” Moran (pro-wrestler/Cosplayer), as well as The League of Heroes and Together Brothers Productions.
  • The Willow Grove Fire Department – Presenting fire-prevention and safety information, as well as tours of fire trucks.
  • Abington Police Department K-9 Unit – Providing Police dog demonstrations.
  • Smart Style Hair Salon – Providing hair cuts to be donated to Locks of Love
  • Vision Center – Free eye screening

Other vendors at the June 30 Woodforest National Bank Community Day will include: The National Guard, Dish Network, Allstate, Sussman Auto Group, Hutchmans Amazing Photos, LA Fitness, Mr. Good Agent.
