EASTERN Commercial Art Student Offered $200,000 in Scholarships

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Commercial Art/Hatboro-Horsham Township High School senior, Ashley Hoover, has recently been offered over $200,000 in scholarships for college. She was not only accepted upon applying, but was also awarded scholarships to all six schools she had been considering.

For the last two years Ashley has flourished as a leader in her Commercial Art Program. “When I came over as a sophomore, I came to visit two other classes as well as Commercial Art. The minute I walked into the Commercial Art classroom I fell in love with everything I saw. I knew that I had to get into this class!” said Ashley.     

Ashley has been accepted into LaSalle University, Penn State Berks, Marywood, Temple, St. Joe’s and Johnson & Wales.  From the six colleges, she is choosing to attend Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island where she will be awarded a $14,000 scholarship each year. When asked why she chose Johnson & Wales, she replied, “When I toured the school, it was right in the middle of Providence - which was great. It also reminded me of being back home in my Commercial Art class. I love how this program will build upon what I have learned at EASTERN.”

Ashley is a member of SkillsUSA.  At the April SkillsUSA State Competition in Hershey, she was awarded second place for the Rex Wright scholarship, which is $750 to the post-secondary school of her choice.  As a student at Johnson & Wales, Ashley will be majoring in Marketing and Advertising Communications. She’s very excited for the future and what it holds for her.
