Construction Along 611 Scheduled for Entire Week

Both day and night road construction are planned for the Route 611 and Pa Turnpike area, restricting traffic.

According to the Upper Moreland Township website, there are Single-Lane Traffic Restrictions Scheduled Monday - Saturday (July 9-14) on Rt. 611 in the township.

Daytime utility relocation and *overnight bridge work to impact travel where the PA Turnpike (I-276) crosses Easton Road.

(1)  Loftus Construction Co. will implement nighttime flagger controlled single-lane patterns Monday - Friday  (July 9-13) restricting traffic to one lane in either direction between the hours of 10:00pm - 5:00am and Saturday (July 14) from 10:00pm - 11:00pm.

(2)  PECO will continue daytime utility relocation work reducing traffic to one-lane southbound on Rt. 611.  The work is scheduled to occur Monday - Friday (July 9-13) and be performed during the utility company's permitted hours of operation between 9:00am - 3:00pm.

(3)  Loftus Construction will close Rt. 611 next weekend on Saturday (July 14) and Sunday (July 15) from 11:00pm until 5:00am the following morning.

For the protection of the traveling public and workers on the project a detour will be implemented directing traffic from Rt. 611 along Fitzwatertown Road, York Road, West Mill Road, and back to Rt. 611.  There will not be any vehicle or pedestrian traffic allowed access through the construction zone, located between Maryland and Wyandotte Roads, Saturday or Sunday after 11:00pm.  Signs will be posted along the designated detour route.  Further information will be provided next week.

The overhead bridge and utility work zone is located between Maryland and Wyandotte Roads, approximately 500 feet south of the on/off ramps to the Willow Grove Interchange.  Motorists are urged to obey posted speed limits and use extra caution when approaching all work areas.

This update is provided by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission as a public service announcement.  All construction related activities are dependent on the weather, accessibility and/or productivity and subject to change.  Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the area, or seek an alternate route as delays may occasionally occur.
