PennDOT, Police to Launch 'Operation Safe Holiday' Campaign

PennDOT, police and safety partners will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Montgomery County Courthouse.

Officials will discuss “Operation Safe Holiday,” an initiative including seat-belt, aggressive-driving and impaired-driving enforcement, and the consequences of driving impaired by drugs or alcohol at a press conference today at the Montgomery County Courthouse. Police will explain the sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and traffic safety patrols they’ll use to crack down on aggressive or impaired drivers.

Also as part of the event, the Pennsylvania DUI Association’s DUI Victims’ Moving Memorial will be on display. The moving memorial is housed in a 30-foot trailer and is a replica of the permanent DUI Victims’ Memorial Garden in Harrisburg. It includes a 25-foot wall printed with the names of people who have been killed by drunk drivers and are honored in the memorial garden.
