Fraud

  • On March 21, at 2 p.m., at the Panera Bread, the Upper Moreland Police Department is conducting an investigation into the theft of two credit cards from a purse of a customer at this location. The victim received a phone call from her bank reporting suspicious activity on her accounts. The fraudulent charges were made at two local stores in the Willow Grove area totaling $1,750.00. The victim believes that the cards were removed from her purse which was hung on the back of her chair while she ate at the restaurant.

Public Drunkenness

  • On March 24, at 11:28 a.m., the Upper Moreland Police Department was dispatched to The Giant Food Store, located at 315 York Road in Willow Grove, for a report of an unknown medical emergency. Barbara Moyer, 44, of the 200 Block of Duffield St. Willow Grove, was found to the rear of the property. She displayed numerous signs of intoxication and did submit to a portable breath test, which showed her blood alcohol level to be 0.30 percent. She refused medical treatment and was placed under arrest for Public Drunkenness. Moyer was held in police custody until she was sober.

DUI

  • On March 22, at 10:11 p.m., Ashley Mitchell, 23, of the 300 Block of Patton Road in Warminster, had her vehicle stopped after an officer observed it was swerving while traveling east bound on Fitzwatertown Road. This vehicle nearly struck a curb and crossed over the double yellow lines into oncoming lanes. When the officer made contact with Mitchell, she was found to be intoxicated. She was arrested for DUI and transported to the Upper Moreland Police station for chemical testing. While at the police station, Mitchell refused to submit the breath samples as instructed. The chemical testing was deemed to be a refusal. Mitchell has been charged with DUI and Careless Driving.
