Eastern Student Named Best and Brightest in Montco

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology Electronics Engineering student Casey Hensley has been recognized in the Montgomery County Public Schools June newsletter.

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (EASTERN) Electronics Engineering Technology student and Lower Moreland High School senior, Casey Hensley, has been named one of the Best and Brightest in the Montgomery County Public Schools June newsletter.

Casey has consistently maintained an A average throughout his two-year Electronics Engineering Technology program at EASTERN, and is the 2011 – 2012 SkillsUSA School Wide PM President.

He was the 2010 – 2011 SkillsUSA Electronics Engineering Technology Class Vice President. He received first place for Electronics Technology at the SkillsUSA District Competition held February.

SkillsUSA is a national student organization promoting good citizenship, student leadership, professionalism, teamwork, and recognizes student achievement and excellence. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives; working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. At EASTERN, Casey is the May 2012 Student of the Month.

The Student of the Month Award is sponsored by EASTERN’s faculty, Joint Committee and the Willow Grove Rotary Club to highlight student excellence, success and service. Ten students each year are selected for this honor.

In 2010 – 2011, Casey served as EASTERN’s student representative for the Electronics Engineering Technology program’s Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC).

Each of EASTERN’s 14 programs has an OAC of business professionals and industry experts that help the instructors and administration develop the
most up-to-date curriculum and ensure that all tools used at EASTERN are the same tools being used in the field.

In 2010 - 2011, Casey received EASTERN’s Electronics Engineering Technology Award at EASTERN’s Awards Night.

This year, he received the award again, as well as the EASTERN Foundation Award.

He is also an honor roll student at his participating high school, Lower Moreland.
EASTERN’s Electronics Engineering Technology program is designed for students to achieve success in electronics or engineering related courses and pave the way for their college education.
