Upper Moreland Library Wants Patrons to ‘Check Out’ Strategic Survey

In celebration of National Library Week, the UM Library is asking residents to help shape its future.

This week marks National Library week. During this week, current and past patrons are encouraged to visit their local libraries to read with their families and make time to use their libraries’ increasing resources.

“Reading is a solid foundation on which to build a child’s education and a great way to spend quality time with your family,” Josh Shapiro, chair of the Montgomery County Commissioners, said in a recent press release. “I urge everyone to support this effort and take time to explore their local library.”

According to the release, Montgomery County has an extensive library and information network consortium with branches located across the county. Constituents can search for county libraries on the Living & Working page of the Montgomery County website.

Recent renovations at the (UMFPL) also support National Library Week efforts; as such renovations have gone toward increasing family and public resources, including the recent acquisition of a Family Place grant.

“We at the Upper Moreland Library love National Library Week and the recognition it brings a vital public service,” Adam Cole, UMFPL public services librarian, said in a correspondence. “In celebration this year, we're asking Upper Moreland Township residents to participate in the future of the library by answering a survey about how our services are meeting their needs.”

According to Cole, any Upper Moreland resident interested in helping to shape the library’s 2013-2018 strategic plan can take the survey at:

In a letter to the community, UMFPL director Margie Peters said that the survey is less than 10 questions long, and should take less than five minutes to complete.

The survey would help provide input to offer more services and materials that meet the needs of the community.

The community also has an opportunity to provide feedback in person at the UMFPL Open House on Saturday, May 12, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

“As always, we appreciate our community’s support,” Cole said.
