Upper Moreland Man Receives Philanthrophy Award

Herman Weinrich and 26 other business leaders received awards for their work with charities.

A partner at Timoney Knox LLP, a Fort Washington-based law firm, was among 27 Philadelphia area business leaders who recently received philanthropic awards sponsored by Executive Leaders Radio and the Entrepreneurs Forum of Greater Philadelphia.

ELR and the Entrepreneurs Forum invited 27 area nonprofits to recognize business leaders and the firms they represent for their commitment to the organizations’ charitable causes.

Herman Weinrich of Upper Moreland was selected for the award by the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund for his personal contributions to the Ambler-based organization and for those of his law firm. The Dolan Fund advocates for families with seriously ill, physically and cognitively challenged, or severely injured children nationwide and provides financial assistance for needs not covered by insurance for children in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

Timoney Knox has been involved with the organization since it was founded 35 years ago by Peggy and Joe Dolan in honor of their daughter, Kelly Anne, who died in 1976 at the age of six from a rare form of leukemia. The torch was passed to Weinrich, who joined the firm in 1985, when long-time Timoney Knox lawyer John F. Gaffney, one of the Fund’s original directors, retired from the board.

Weinrich began his involvement by participating in volleyball and basketball marathons, spaghetti dinners, and other fund-raising activities. Participating in numerous fundraisers evolved into being invited to join the board of directors, on which Weinrich has served for six years. He was elected to two terms as president, the only person to hold the position that long.

While Weinrich was president, the organization earned the Eastern College Award for excellence in operating a nonprofit organization. Also under his leadership, it received the Glaxo-Smith Kline International Impact Award.

Weinrich earned the Dolan Fund’s “Directors Award” for his dedication, leadership and participation.

Timoney Knox has sponsored many of the organization’s events, including fundraisers, and has supported it financially. Some years ago, the TK staff compiled a 150-page cookbook, “What’s Cooking at Timoney Knox” and sold copies to raise funds for the charity.

To date, the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund, has helped more than 20,000 families. For additional information about its work, visit www.kadmf.org.
