Busy Father’s Day for Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Company

The WGVFC responded to four calls on June 17, including a car crash into a building and gas leak at the Regency Shopping center

According to the Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Company () website (www.tiller10.com), the fire department had a busy Father’s Day.

On June 17,  the WGVFC responded to four calls. The first two were false alarms, as a vehicle fire on the Pennsylvania Turnpike turned out to be an overheated car, and a reported field fire turned out to be a controlled burn.

However, the third call was for a vehicle rescue after a vehicle crash into a building.

According to the tiller10 website, when WGFC members reached the crash site, the victim had “self-extricated,” from her car. The Willow Grove Fire Company supervised the towing of the car from the building.

The final call of the day took place at 8:19 p.m., which involved a reported gas leak in the Regency Square shopping center.

According to Drennen, the call was made specifically to the China Garden Inn.

“The pipeline coming from the gas meter sheared off, and a serious gas leak occurred,” Drennen said.

Drennen said that gas was detected throughout several businesses and the following were evacuated immediately at the time: The China Garden Inn, Dominos Pizza and The Bonefish Grill.

The department quickly shutoff the gas meter and within 45 minutes, had successfully ventilated all the businesses.
