N. Wales Man Pleads Guilty to Assaulting UMPD officers
The North Wales man was reported to become "aggressive" when in custody of Upper Moreland Police.
According to the Times Herald, Mark Jeffrey Anstock, 38, of North Wales, admitted to assualting Upper Moreland's police officers, including its chief, and county probation officers. Anstock pleaded guilty on Friday in a Montgomery County court to the charges of aggravated assault of law enforcement officials during the incident, which occurred Sept. 6, 2011.
The report stated that Anstock became belligerent after refusing requests for a urine sample at the N. York Road probation office, when Upper Moreland police were dispatched to investigate. According to an Upper Moreland police officer, in the report, Anstock was swinging and kicking the entire time he was being led to an Upper Moreland holding cell.
According to the report, authorities alleged that Thomas Nestel, Upper Moreland Police chief, sustained a cut to his hand, while trying to help subdue Anstock.
