DUI

  • On Feb. 19, at 4:05 a.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Moreland Road and Lawnton Road observed a vehicle being operated on the wrong side of the roadway. When the vehicle was stopped the driver was identified as Christopher Dillon, 22, of the 300 Block of Windsor Ave. in Southampton.When this officer spoke with Dillon he observed signs of impairment about him. Dillon was taken into custody and transported to the Upper Moreland Police Department for chemical testing. The breath test that Dillon submitted to yielded a result of 0.098 percent blood alcohol content. DUI charges have been filed.
  • On Jan. 27, at 11:16 p.m., the Upper Moreland Police Department received information of a reckless driver in the area of Warmintster Road and Chelsea Road in the Hatboro section of the Township. The vehicle in question was located by patrol officers and a traffic stop was conducted.The driver was identified as Janice Laporta, 49, of the 300 block of Olice Ave. in Horsham. She was found to intoxicated and injured.She was transported to a local hospital and a blood sample was obtained for chemical testing.The result of the blood results yielded a result of 0.325 percent BAC. DUI charges have been filed.
  • On Feb. 17, at 5:03 p.m., the Upper Moreland Police Department received information of a possible intoxicated driver in the area of Willow Avenue and Broadway Avenue. When officers arrived in the area, James Angney, 28, of the 1000 Block of Tyson Ave. in Abington, was found sleeping behind the wheel. Angney was found to be intoxicated. He was transported to the Upper Moreland Police Station where he submitted to a chemical breath test.This testing yielded a result of 0.331 percent BAC. DUI charges have been filed against Angney.
  • On Feb. 18, at 12:53 a.m., an officer on patrol observed a vehicle fail to stop for a posted stop sign at Ellis Road and Easton Road. The officer subsequently stopped this vehicle and the driver the driver was identified as Robert Neely, 57, of the 400 Block of Grant Ave. in Willow Grove, Neely displayed signs of impairment and submitted to field sobriety testing. Neely was taken into custody and transported to the Upper Moreland Police Department for chemical testing. Neely submitted to a breath test which yielded a result of 0.22 percent BAC. DUI charges have been filed.
  • On Feb. 19, at 2:21 a.m., an officer clocked Joseph Dempsey's vehicle traveling at a speed of 48 mph in a posted 25 mph speed zone in the 300 block of Easton Road in Willow Grove. Dempsey, 45, is of the 3000 Block of Holme Ave. in Philadelphia. When this officer stopped and spoke with Dempsey he was found to be impaired. He was transported to the Upper Moreland Police Department for chemical testing. He submitted to a breath test which yielded a result of 0.131 percent BAC. DUI and speeding charges have been filed against Dempsey.

  • On Feb. 10, police responded to the area of Blair Mill and Easton Road for a report of a suspicious person. Officers found Carl Davis, 48, of the 61000 Block of N. 20th St. of Philadelphia, walking in traffic causing a vehicle to have to stop abruptly. He admitted to drinking beers as well as using numerous other controlled substances. He was taken into custody and transported to the Upper Moreland Police Department. Davis was cited for Public Drunkenness and other related charges.

 

Thefts

  • On Feb. 9, at 4:22 p.m., Rahmid Trotman, 20, 7700 Block of Cedarbrook Ave. of Philadelphia, an employee at Lowe's in Willow Grove came under investigation by Lowe's lost prevention for making fictitious "returns" using a Lowe's merchandise card. This information was turned over to the police after Lowe's showed Trotman's activities caused a total loss to Lowe's in the amount of $567.27.Trotman was charged with theft by unlawful taking.

 

Drug Violations

  • On Jan. 27, at 4:41 p.m.,the Upper Moreland Police received a report of a suspicious person in the area of the Burger King at Eaton Road and York Road in Willow Grove. Responding officers located Michael Kendall, 24, of the 2300 Block of Duncan Street in philadelphia, in the area. Kendall was found to be wanted on an active arrest warrant out of Philadelphia.After he was arrested, officers found a small amount of marijuana on him.Charges have been filed with the court for the drug possession. Kendall was turned over to the custody of Philadelphia.
  • On Feb. 22, at 8:33 p.m., Laura Ferry's vehicle was stopped for not coming to a stop for a posted stop sign at the intersection of Pioneer Road and Shoemaker Road. When Ferry, 18, of the 200 Block of Sharpless Road in Southampton, reached into her glove compartment to get the vehicle registration and insurance paperwork, the officer observed a glass smoking pipe which is used in the smoking of controlled substances.The smoking pipe was seized and Ferry was cited for Disorderly Conduct.
