Assault

On March 13, at 2:08 a.m., police responded to the 500 block of Crown Street for a reported altercation involving the use multiple firearms. The victim reported he had gone to Joseph Pape's house to confront him for an earlier assault against his sister, Pape's wife. Victim stated when he arrived at Pape's residence to confront him he walked down to the basement den area where Pape, 44, was located. Pape pulled out a silver .38 caliber revolver and pointed the gun directly at the victim. Pape and the victim had some words and the victim walked out of the house. Pape stated "Castle law, you're in my castle". Victim was able to exit the residence and observed Pape from a second story window with a shotgun pointed at him. Victim also heard the gun racking or loading by moving the stock back and forth. Victim was able to leave and return to his residence and call police. Police arrived shortly after the incident and also discovered that Pape had assaulted his wife on March 8. Pape's wife had bruising and swelling around her right eye and bruising on both upper arms and chest. Pape admitted to pushing his wife into a wooden post during an argument that night. Pape was placed under arrest on the following charges: Two felony counts of Aggravated Assault, Terrorist Threats, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering another person, Possessing instrument of crime, and Disorderly Conduct. On March 14 at 2 p.m., Pape was arraigned in front of Judge Friedenberg. Bail was set at $100,000.00 at 10 percent with no contact with victims. A preliminary hearing is set for March 21 at 9 a.m. in Magistrate District Judge Friedenberg's court.

Drug Arrest

March 12, at 10:35 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Jerry Esguerra, 26, from the 5700 Block of Keenan Court in Bensalem, on Park Avenue after observing a suspended registration on his vehicle. The driver, Esguerra, did not have a valid driver's license and a small amount of marijuana was located in plain sight during the traffic stop. Esguerra was cited for Disorderly Conduct and issued two traffic citations.
