DUI

  • On April 11, at 1:27 a.m., a vehicle being operated by Melissa Logston, 23, of the unit Block of Rush Street in Warminster, was stopped on County Line Road in the Hatboro section of the Township, after an officer observed the vehicle was traveling on the roadway at night with a front headlight out. The officer found Logston to be under the influence of alcohol.Lotgston's driver's license was also found to be suspended.She submitted to a chemical breath test which yielded a result of 0.136 percent Blood Alcohol Content. Charges have been filed. Logston was also chared with a DUI and related charges by UMPD on March 24.
  • On March 30, at 4:01 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle that was being operated carelessly on Moreland Road near Fitzwatertown Road. The driver of this vehicle was identified as Paul O'Connell, 24, of the 3500 Block of Bartram Road in Willow Grove. O'Connell was found to intoxicated. He submitted to a chemical breath test which yielded a result of 0.168 percent BAC. O'Connell is charged with DUI and Driving While Suspended.

The passenger / owner of this vehicle was identified as  Melissa Logston. She was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. She is charged with Disorderly Conduct and Permitting O'Connell to drive while impaired and suspended.

  • On april 3, at 3:39 a.m., officers stopped the vehicle that Leonel Perez, 29, of the 3600 Block of Friar Road in Philadelphia, was driving when it made a left turn at the intersection of Center Avenue and Moreland Road in Willow Grove. This intersection is clearly posted that all traffic must turn right. Perez was found to be intoxicated.He submitted to a chemical breath test which yielded a result of 0.144 percent BAC. Perez is charged with DUI and related offenses.
  • On April 4, at 3:06 a.m., Jaison Jacob, 34 of the 8500 Block of Benton Street in Philadelphia, had his vehicle stopped on Moreland Road near Easton Road, when an officer observed it traveling at a speed greater then 60 mph in a posted 35 mph speed zone. This vehicle was also being driven between the two east bound lanes of traffic. Jacob was found to be impaired. He was taken into custody and submitted to a chemical breath test which yielded a result of 0.120 percent BAC. Jacob is charged with DUI, Driving while DUI suspended, and related offenses.

Retail Theft

  • On April 11, at 1:17 p.m., police responded to the Marshalls Department Store located in the Willow Grove Shopping Center for a report of a retail theft. Latoya Spence, 31, of the 1600 Block of W. Champlost Ave. in Philadelphia, was seen removing security tags from articles of clothing and placing the clothing into her purse. The total value of the theft was $67.92.She has been charged with Retail Theft.
  • On April 11, at 5:12 p.m. officers responded to the Giant Food Store, located at 315 N. York Road for a report of a Retail theft. Employees of the store observed Patricia Pollock, 24, placing items into her purse. She was stopped by a store employee as she attempted to leave the store. In all 18 items were taken totaling $234.37.Pollock was charged with Retail Theft.

Thefts

  • On April 12, overnight, the Upper Moreland Police Department is investigation the thefts of catalytic converters that were cut and removed from vehicles parked at various businesses along the 2400 and 2500 blocks of Wyandotte Road in Willow Grove. In this investigation three vehicles were damaged when the catalytic converters were stolen from the parked vehicles. The value of the theft is $700.00 each.
  • On April 10, overnight, the Upper Moreland Police is investigating the theft of $200.00 worth of scrap copper which was stolen from a work truck that was left parked on the street along the 100 Block of New Street in Willow Grove. The scrap copper was various sizes and length of copper wire which was kept unsecure on the work truck.
  • On April 10, overnight, the Upper Moreland Police Department is investigating the theft of items from an unlocked vehicle that parked in an apartment complex, located on the 3800 Block of Blair Mill Road in the Horsham secontion of the township. The items taken totaled $250.00 in value and included a wallet and an I-pod.
  • On April 12, overnight, the Upper Moreland Police Department is investigating the theft of a Cannondale 20 speed bicycle which is valued at $1,200.The bike was taken from a bike carrier which was attached to a vehicle parked in the driveway, located along the 300 Block of Hampton Road in Hatboro.
