Police Look for Hit-and-Run of UMHS Student

Reports say that Upper Moreland High School Student had to undergo surgery after a Friday-night hit-and-run in Philadelphia.

According to a news report by NBC 10, an student was sent to the hospital after an alleged hit-and-run incident took place in Philadelphia on the evening of March 30.

[Updated 10:12 p.m., April 3] The report said that Matt Coutts, 15, of Upper Moreland, was riding his skateboard while friends heading eastbound at the 200 block of Tomlinson Road in Northeast Philadelphia. At around 9:45 p.m., the report says a mini-van traveling westbound struck him and another friend, who was riding his bike. Both were taken to a nearby hospital.

On Monday Coutts will undergo surgery at Children’s Hospital for injuries sustained in the incident.

According to police, the mini-van was a Silver Honda Odyssey, which may also have extensive front-end damage.
