Police: Man in Wheelchair Shoots his Mother

The Montgomery County District Attorney's office said a man who uses a wheelchair shot two people, including his own mother, Thursday night in Willow Grove.

The following is an update on the shooting that took place in Willow Grove on Thursday night:

Police say Lorenzo "Chummy" Sims, Jr., who uses a wheel chair, got into an argument with 32-year-old Robert "Cheese" Basketbill and

Reports indicate Sims also shot his mother, 44-year-old Keisha Sims, in her right hand.

According to phillyburbs.com, a witness reported that Sims had a verbal argument with Basketbill outside Sims’ mother’s apartment. The man walked away from the argument, going to sit on the patio with about six others.

Sims’ mother followed the man, continuing the argument, and minutes later, Sims rolled his wheelchair towards the crowd with a handgun and allegedly shot at least twice into the group.

Both victims were taken to Abington Hospital; Basketbill was in critical condition.

Sims is charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering others and weapon violations.
