Three Philadelphia men have been charged stealing $2,700 worth of jewelry from the K-Mart on Route 38 in Moorestown on Feb. 28, police announced Saturday morning.

Richard Dilks, James McGrath and Berry L. Pelfrey were all charged in connection with the robbery that took place around 8:30 p.m.

Initially, it was believed there were two suspects involved in the crime. One suspect used a tool to cut open the security cable supporting a freestanding jewelry case to the counter. The other took the case and fled.

When the loss prevention officer attempted to stop the suspect who took the case, the other threatened him with a knife and indicated there was a gun in the car.

The officer fled to safety, and neither suspect displayed a gun.

On Saturday, Pelfrey, 37, of the 9800 block of Verree Road in Philadelphia, was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and terroristic threats. His bail was set at $75,000 full.

McGrath, 40, of the 4400 block of H Street in Philadelphia, was charged with robbery. His bail was set at $50,000 full.

Dilks, 51, of the 5300 block of Darrah Street in Philadelphia, was charged with shoplifting. His bail was set at $40,000.

All three subjects are presently incarcerated in Pennsylvania on charges from other jurisdictions.

Moorestown detectives worked in conjunction with Bensalem and Philadelphia police in the investigation resulting in the charges.
