UMHS Student Victim of an Attempted Robbery

UMPD recently released an account of a UMHS student who says he was almost robbed by four suspects in a black car on Monday.

According to an Upper Moreland Police Department release, on Monday, April 4, at approximately 2:50 p.m., an Upper Moreland High School student was walking home when a black four-door car pulled alongside him near Lincoln and Grant avenues.

The vehicle had a black plastic garbage bag covering the passenger side rear vent window. The three black male occupants of the car (in their late teens or early 20s) demanded the student's money and backpack, the release said.

The student was told that if he failed to cooperate, he would be shot. No gun was seen by the student. When the student refused, the males fled, continued the release.

The victim believed that the vehicle had a PA tag of HSS9896. That tag has been excluded as a possibility, but it may have letters or numbers similar to what was reported by the victim.

If you see a vehicle fitting this description, immediately call 911.
