Upper Moreland Man Admits he Molested Teens

Three men have come forward to claim that they were sexually assaulted as minors by Burt Ludin, an Upper Moreland resident.

Earlier this month an Upper Moreland man admitted to sexually molesting three minors between 2001 and 2005 in Montgomery and Bucks counties.

Burt Philip Ludin, 51, of the 100 block of Krewson Terrace, was charged with a range of sex crimes, according to a 2011 press release issued by the Montgomery County District Attorney's office.

On Nov. 8, Ludin pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court to multiple charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and a charge of obscene materials. The three boys were between the ages of 11 and 15 at the time of the incidents, according to court documents.

Sentencing has been deferred so that court officials can complete a background investigative report. The Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Assessment Board also will evaluate Ludin to determine if he meets criteria under the state’s Megan’s Law to be declared a sexually violent predator.

The first of the three men approached police with his allegations in August 2010. According to the district attorney's office, the 19-year-old accuser told authorities that "at the age of 11, during a sleep over at Ludin's home, Ludin showed him pornography and masturbated in front of him."

"The male stated that Ludin continued to show him pornography on several occasions until the age of 13. These incidents would occur when the male was alone with Ludin either at Ludin's home or other locations," the press release states.

It went on to say that the victim reported that on these occasions, Ludin inappropriately touched the victim, and had the victim touch him inappropriately.

Then, in October of 2011, a 20-year-old male and 22-year-old male also reported to the Upper Dublin Police Department that they were sexually assaulted by Ludin on multiple occasions over several years.

"The males reported that between the ages of 11 and 15, Ludin showed them pornography and inappropriately touched them," the release said. "The males also stated that Ludin would have the males touch him in an inappropriate manner."

The three males told authorities that the incidents occurred in Upper Dublin and Warminster Township, Bucks County.

Montgomery County Court records show that Ludin has previously been charged in an incident involving underaged minors. In May of 2009, Ludin was charged with two counts of selling or furnishing liquor to a minor. According to the records, Ludin plead guilty to both charges and received probation.

Ludin also had a run in with the law in 1986, when he was charged with assaulting a man while working for the Parking Authority in Philadelphia, according to a 1986 report from the Daily News.

The article reports that Ludin "placed a ticket on a car in the 3500 block of Walnut Street," and that the vehicle's owner approached Ludin and began to converse with him.

"Moments later, Ludin hit [the man] on the head with his radio, then grabbed him around the head and punched him several times... [the man] fell to the ground and Ludin jumped on his chest," the article says.

Ludin was arraigned before a magisterial district judge on October 13 and bail was set at $150,000 cash.
