Upper Moreland Man Gets Time for Stealing from Mom

The man pleaded guilty to theft charges in July.

An Upper Moreland man was sentenced to county time after he pleaded guilty to two burglary and conspiracy charges stemming from incidents in 2011.

Tyrie R. Miller, 28, of the 2500 block of Moreland Road, was sentenced on Wednesday to 11-and-a-half to 23 months, according to a phillyburbs.com story. He will also have to pay more than $6,500 in restitution and undergo drug and alcohol treatment.   

According to the report, the Abington burglary took place between Sept. 7 and Sept. 16, in which Miller is reported, in the criminal complaint, to have forced open the lock on his mother’s bedroom door, and stole items from her jewelry chest.

The report continues to say that police then went to a local precious metals dealer, where Miller was found to have sold women’s jewelry, which Miller’s mother later identified as her own.

The other burglary happened in East Norriton on Oct. 26. According to the report, Miller broke into a home on the 3200 block of Sharon Lane, where the criminal complaint reported him to have stolen a camera, alcohol, as well as jewelry.
