Willow Grove Man Charged with Stealing RR Track

A Willow Grove man allegedly stole a section of railroad track for money, according to police.

A 37-year-old Willow Grove man allegedly stole a steel railroad track in an attempt to "scrap it for money," police said.

William G. Creswick, of Lookout Lane in Willow Grove, was arrested and charged with theft and possession of a controlled substance after police said he removed a portion of the railroad bridge at Terwood and Welsh roads in Lower Moreland Township and placed it in the back of his Ford F-150 truck.

Upper Moreland Police pulled Creswick over after seeing the steel railroad track piece extend from the back bed portion of his truck by about 10 feet, according to a police report at Lower Moreland Police Department.

During a search of Creswick's truck, police said a window air-conditioning unit, as well as small pieces of copper tubing were recovered. Cocaine and a glass pipe used for the consumption of the drug were also found, according to police.

The railroad track was transported back to the Lower Moreland Township yard for safekeeping, according to police.
