Democratic Committee Endorses Candidates for Upper Moreland Primary

The Upper Moreland Democratic Committee has announced the candidates it wants to endorse for the May primary election.

The committee put out a call back in January for openings in Wards 1, 3, 5, and 7. The Democrats of Upper Moreland have formally announced who will potentially fill those openings.

Ward 1: Lisa Romaniello (incumbent)

Info: The incumbent Commissioner for Ward 1 is seeking her third term. Lisa has been a strong advocate for Town Center Zoning, fiscal restraint, and transparent government.

Ward 3: Charles Whiting

Info: Charles recently retired from the Philadelphia School District. He started his career as an Elementary School Teacher in Hatboro-Horsham and retired as the Principal of Dobbins Career and Technical High School in Philadelphia. He holds advanced degrees in Education from Temple and Arcadia Universities. He achieved many honors over his career including the Marcus Foster Award for Outstanding Administrator of the year. He has a lifetime of community service through Scouting. A former Eagle Scout, he has mentored more than 60 others with 37 years of service to Scout Troop 358 of Grace Baptist Church in Germantown.

Ward 5: Tom Lockton

Info: Tom grew up in the Tacony Section of Phildelphia and has lived in Upper Moreland for more than three years. He attended Father Judge High School and holds an Associate Degree from Thaddeus Stevens College. He trained through the apprenticeship program with Plumbers Local 690, through which he is currently employed.

Ward 7: Fran Clark

Info: Fran has been a resident of Upper Moreland for more than 30 years. His three sons were raised in Upper Moreland and attended Archbishop Wood High School. He is an electrician with Local IBEW #380 with over 36 years of construction experience. He started his career in their apprenticeship program in 1985. He has been the Business Representative of his local since 2003 and has also been its Executive Board Chairman since 2009.
