New Water Spray Poles Could Cost Upper Moreland $25K

Commissioners said they will apply for a state grant and will be required to match funds if approved for new spray poles at Masons Mill Park.

The Upper Moreland commissioners authorized the township to apply for a state grant of up to $25,000 to repair and install new water spray poles at Masons Mill Park.

Wednesday is the deadline to apply for the grant and commissioners indicated at their April board meeting that they will move forward in applying.

Parks and Rec Director Pat Stasio said he received a verbal commitment that the project would cost between $45,000 to $50,000 to add two more poles, replace the current one and cover plumbing costs. If approved, the township will be required to match $20,000 to $25,000 in funding for the project.

“I evaluated our parks and one thing we’ve been wanting to do in the park system is make improvements to the spray pole at Masons Mills Park,” Stasio said. “It’s one of our more popular activities at Masons Mill Park and it needs improvements. The kids just love it.”
