“It’s a great honor in the profession,” Stasio said. “PRPS has over 1,800 members, and each year they pick on member to give this award to — if they indeed deem one member worthy.”

Stasio explained that the award is given to someone who exemplifies the mission of a parks and recreation department in its community. Kollar has been noted to elevate the township’s existing programs to make them more inclusive for the members of the community of all ages, including the creation of the township’s Wee Summer Program, working with the Golden Age Club and offering teen-focused programs.

Speaking after the committee meetings, Upper Moreland Township manager David Dodies further expressed the township’s compliments at Kollar’s PRPS recognition.

“Katie is a terrific asset, not only to our Parks and Recreation, but also to the entire township organization,” Dodies said. “We are thrilled to have her, and offer her our sincere congratulations for receiving the award given to her by her colleagues.”
