Eastern Student of the Month: Casey Hensley

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology's May Student of the month is enrolled in the school's Engineering Technology program.

Casey Hensley is the May 2012 Student of the Month at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology () in Willow Grove. He is in his second year of EASTERN’s Electronics Engineering Technology program and a senior at Lower Moreland High School.

The Student of the Month Award is sponsored by EASTERN’s faculty, Joint Committee and the Willow Grove Rotary Club to highlight student excellence, success and service. Ten students each year are selected for this honor.

At EASTERN, Casey maintains an A average in his Electronics Engineering Technology program while being active in SkillsUSA as the SkillsUSA 2011 – 2012 PM session President. He received first place for Electronics Technology at the SkillsUSA District Competition held January 31 – February 1, 2012 at the
Western Center for Technical Studies in Limerick, PA. He was also selected to attend the Annual District 2 Career and Technical Student Organization’s (CTSO) Leadership Conference at the Pocono Manor Resort in both 2010 and 2011. SkillsUSA is a national student organization promoting good citizenship, student
leadership, professionalism, teamwork, and recognizes student achievement and excellence.

At EASTERN, Casey represented EASTERN and his Electronics Engineering Technology program at Open House and 10th Grade Career Expo. He is also the student representative for the Electronics Engineering Technology program Occupational Advisory Committee. At Lower Moreland High School he maintains a 4.01 grade point average and is the supervisor of the Tech Crew. Casey works as a Cashier/Bakery Associate at Giant Food Store.

“Casey is an intelligent and personable individual,” said EASTERN Electronics Engineering Technology instructor, Melvin Dixon. “He works hard and achieves his goals. He is a leader in the class and a great representative of the program.”

After completion of his EASTERN program and graduation from Lower Moreland High School, Casey plans to attend Montgomery County Community College majoring in Computer Engineering. He will matriculate to Drexel University to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering.
