Eastern Student of the Month: Christopher Chandler
June's Eastern student of the month studies protective services and won the silver medal at this year's SkillsUSA District Competition in Fire Fighting.
Christopher Chandler is the June Student of the Month at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology (Eastern) in Willow Grove.
He is in his second year of Eastern’s Protective Services program and a senior at Hatboro-Horsham High School.
The Student of the Month Award is sponsored by Eastern’s faculty, Joint Committee and the Willow Grove Rotary Club to highlight student excellence, success and service. Ten students each year are selected for this honor.

At Eastern, Chandler is the SkillsUSA Protective Services Class President. In February, Chandler won the silver medal at the District Competition in Fire Fighting.
SkillsUSA is a national student organization promoting good citizenship, student leadership, professionalism, teamwork, and recognizes student achievement and excellence.

Through , Chandler has earned several certifications, such as CPR/AED, Hazardous Awareness, and Fire Fighter I.
He also volunteered his time for EASTERN’s Career Expo visitation, providing demonstrations to potential students.
At Hatboro-Horsham High School, he is on the bowling, football and rugby teams, and he participates in the school Comic Club and Gay Straight Alliance.
Chandler volunteers his time to Hatboro Little League as a snack stand supervisor and grounds crew member.
He also volunteers for the Horsham Soccer Club as a referee for the 8-year-old age group. Chandler currently works at Willow Ridge Genesis Health Care facility as a dietary assistant, preparing food trays for residents.
“Chris enjoys working with others, and demonstrates outstanding leadership,” said Eastern’s Protective Services Instructor Walt Kenney. “He will be an asset to the military and to the police force.”
After graduation, Chandler plans to enlist in the Marine Corps and aspires to become a military police officer. He intends to become a police officer and, ultimately, a detective.
