Eastern Student Receives $44,000 Scholarship to Moore

Nichole Hamilton, an Eastern commercial art student, received a Presidential Scholarship to Moore College of Art and Design.

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology Commercial Art/Upper Moreland High School senior Nichole Hamilton recently received a Presidential Scholarship from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia.

Hamilton will receive $11,000 per year while pursuing her bachelor's degree in illustration with a minor in fashion design—a total of $44,000 throughout all four years. This prestigious merit award was based on Hamilton’s academic and artistic excellence.

Moore College of Art and Design performs an interview and thorough portfolio review for each candidate. Based on the interview and portfolio, the college may offer certain outstanding students one of its various scholarships.

Hamilton has an extensive portfolio of work she has done at Eastern and for various clients.

Hamilton plans to attend Moore College of Art and Design full time for four years, and hopes to specialize in medical or forensic illustration. Her fashion design minor will also help her with her clothing designs, which she currently sells online at Etsy. Hamilton also designs costumes for anime conventions.

At Eastern, Hamilton volunteers her time as a student presenter for recruitment efforts, such as the Career Expo, and she photographs school events.

Throughout her tenure at Upper Moreland High School, Hamilton has been involved with many activities, including the drama, tennis and concert choir clubs. She is currently a member of the Upper Moreland High School Art Club and is a founder of the Anime Club.

She plans to pursue both her bachelor's and master's degrees.
