Lynn Utter to Present Keynote at Annual Leading Women Symposium & Golf Experience

Symposium mixes business and golf

Lynn M. Utter, president and chief operating officer of Knoll North America and former chief strategy officer at Coors Brewing Company, will present the keynote speech at Montgomery County Community College’s seventh annual Leading Women Symposium and Golf Experience Thursday, June 2, at the Blue Bell Country Club.

Proceeds from this annual event benefit the college’s Foundation in support of career and leadership development programs for women.

Utter will speak at a 10:30 a.m. brunch symposium. He is a fellow of the Henry Crown leadership program at The Aspen Institute and serves on the Center for Work-Life Policy’s Hidden Brain Drain Task Force. Knoll International, where Utter is CSO, is a leading designer and manufacturer of furniture and textiles for work environments and residences.

Experienced golfers are invited to play in the Leading Women Invitational following the symposium at 1 p.m. Teams of golfers will compete in an 18-hole, informal team scramble on the Arnold Palmer Signature course at Blue Bell.

In addition to the scramble, the event includes a “Learning Women” program—an introduction to the game for new or beginner golfers. Players will receive basic game training by noted PGA and LPGA teaching professionals at various stations throughout the course. Following golf, an après golf reception caps off the day.

In conjunction with the Symposium and Golf Invitational, the Woman-Owned Business Network will hold a Business Expo showcasing its members’ businesses, products and services. The symposium concludes with a cocktail reception and awards banquet at 4:30 p.m.

Each year, the Leading Women Symposium and Golf Experience offers more than 130 business women in the greater Philadelphia area an alternative to the “good old boy network.”

A variety of corporate sponsorship opportunities remain available for the event. To find out more about sponsorship opportunities or to reserve a place at the event, visit www.mc3.edu/lw or contact Debra Khateeb at 215-641-6534 or dkhateeb@mc3.edu.

The Leading Women Symposium and Golf Experience grew out of a program co-founded by Montgomery County Community College President Dr. Karen Stout in 2005. “Starting a Successful Women-Owned Business” was intended to foster entrepreneurship among women.

More than 200 students have participated in the 12-week program, resulting in a dozen new women-owned businesses that now operate in the community.

Dr. Stout also established the Women-Owned Business Network, which provides established and aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet and network at the college throughout the year.
