St. David's Shoots and Scores with Coaches Vs. Cancer Event

The St. David CYO held foul-shooting contest in order to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

For the first time, St. David CYO held a Coaches Vs. Cancer event in the gym on March 17.

In previous years, the CYO participated with other communities’ Coaches Vs. Cancer event, such as last year’s basketball tournament at St. John Bosco. This year the St. David CYO decided to host a foul-shooting contest.

Over 60 participants from the St. David community competed to be the best foul shot scorer in their age and grade level. The event, which started at 9 a.m., featured St. David students, starting at grade one to eighth grade. Adults also competed in the afternoon.

In addition to the $5 entry fee, St. David parents volunteered to sell concessions, as well as Coaches Vs. Cancer gear. According to event co-coordinator, Jenn Falsone, who is also the St. David CYO community service coordinator, all proceeds from the event benefitted the American Cancer Society.
