Upper Moreland Cosmetology Student Creates Winning Look

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology students compete in hairstyling contest.

Would your hairstyling skills turn heads?

For three Eastern Center for Arts and Technology cosmetology students–including Upper Moreland High School junior Micayla Thompson–the answer would be most certainly.

Eastern cosmetology students participated in a competition in which they prettied up their models in the vein of fashion magazine photo shoots.

The Willow Grove technology school's staff members walked through the cosmetology program looking at the styles and the photos which they were modeled after and voted on their top three styles. 

The top three winning looks were created by Traci Durieux, a junior at Cheltenham High School; Micayla Thompson, a junior at Upper Moreland High School; and Faith Cruz, a junior at Abington High School.

The cosmetology student competitors are working toward the completion of their 1,250 required hours necessary in order to take the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology Exam.

Eastern's cosmetology program provides the skills necessary to begin a career in the cosmetology field. In Pennsylvania, as well as other states, cosmetologists and nail technicians must be licensed to practice.
