The trip was started over 15 years ago by John Grande, UMMS seventh and eigth-grade Spanish and French teacher. In a previous interview with Patch, Grande explained the purpose of the trip was to encourage his students to practice their French, and has become an eagerly anticipated event by both students and parents each year.

This year, the Canada trip is scheduled from May 29 – June 2.

The UMMS committee organizing the eighth-grade Canada trip holds various fundraisers throughout the year to help subsidize travelling expenses, including an annual flea market.

The April 19 “Festa Italiana” dinner will feature a menu provided by Carraba’s Italian Grill, including:

  • Caesar Salad
  • Made-on-premises Chicken Marsala
  • Penne with fresh Pomodoro Sauce
  • Bread and Herb mix
  • Coffee and Iced Tea
  • Homemade desserts

The public is invited to attend the dinner. Tickets at the door cost $15 for adults and $8 for children ages 3-8.

For more information, contact John Grande at 215-674-4185.
