Upper Moreland Slates Fall Programs for Preschool Kids

The Upper Moreland Township Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a variety of activities preschool age children.  Registration is now open for these activities.  They are:

“Wee” EXPLORE 5 classes

Session I: Oct. 1 to Oct. 29
Session II: Nov. 12 to Dec. 10
Session III: Nov. 14 to Dec. 12
Times: 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. OR 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Ages: 2-5 yrs w/ caregiver
Location: Pileggi Park Soccer Clubhouse
Fee: $45 R / $67 NR

We’ll explore our environment, nature, animals, science, and much more. A new topic each week with a new theme will help children understand the importance and fascination that the world has to offer.  Books, crafts, circle time, and other fun activities will make learning a snap.

“Wee” MAKE A MESS 5 classes

Session I: Oct. 3 – Oct. 31
Session II: Nov. 12 – Dec. 10 and/or Nov. 14 to Dec. 12
Times:  1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Ages: 1-5 yrs. w/ caregiver
Location: Pileggi Soccer Clubhouse
Fee: $45 R / $67 NR

We will provide the place, instruction, supplies, and we will even provide the clean up. Dive into this untidy agenda of paint, shaving cream, play dough, markers, and whatever else we can come up with. Fun has never been so messy.

“Wee” MAKE MUSIC 5 classes

Session I: Oct. 3 – Oct 31
Session II: Nov. 14 – Dec. 12
Time: 10am - 10:45am
Ages: 2-5 yrs. w/ caregiver
Location: Pileggi Park Soccer Clubhouse
Fee: $45 R / $67 NR

An immersion in music through singing, playing, dancing, movement, literacy and listening. Sing simple songs, engage in rhythmic finger plays, move to the music, play musical instruments, and explore and hear full-sized instruments. Our goal is to develop a love and interest for music!

“Wee” SPORTS 5 classes

Session I: Oct. 1 to Oct. 29
Session II: Nov. 12 to Dec. 10 or Nov. 14 to Dec. 12
Time: 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. OR 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Ages: 3-5 yrs w/ caregiver

Fee: $45 R / $67 NR

Teamwork and fun is the name of the game. Introduce your youngster to a variety of popular sports. Our instructors take a fun, hands-on approach to make the first impression of the sport a memorable one. Participants receive an award upon completion. Please bring water and dress for the weather.

“Wee” ROLL BOWLING 4 classes

Session: Nov. 16 to Dec. 14 (no 11/18 or 11/23)
Times: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Ages: 3-5 yrs
Location: Thunderbird Lanes in Willow Grove
Fee: $34 R / $51 NR

This popular program introduces youngsters to the lifelong sport of bowling.  Parents are asked to stay and supervise their child(ren). Parents may participate for an additional fee ($6 per class).  Light instruction is given at the beginning of each session, followed by free bowl.  Each child receives a soft pretzel and a soft drink each week.  Achievement awards are given upon completion.

“Wee” KICK SOCCER 5 classes

Session: Oct. 4 to Nov. 1 (rain date Nov. 8)
Time: 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Ages: 3 & 4 years
Time: 4pm – 4:45pm   
Ages: 4 & 5 years
Location: Pileggi Park Soccer Field 1
Fee: $45 R / $67 NR

Designed to teach your child the “fun”damentals of soccer, as well as to allow interaction in a team-like setting. Bring water, shin guards and cleats/sneakers, and dress for the weather.

“Wee” PLAY GAMES 5 classes

Sesssion: Oct. 5 to Nov. 2
Session II: Nov. 16 to Dec. 21 (Omit 11/23)
Times: 1-1:45pm
Ages: 3-5 yrs
Location: Pileggi Park Soccer Clubhouse
Fee: $45 R / $67 NR

Learn and play new games as well as some old favorites.  Class promotes friendly competition as well as learning to “take turns.”  We will play games where everyone wins and all can be included.

“Wee” READ TOGETHER 5 classes

Session: Nov. 7 to Dec. 5
Sesssion II: Nov. 15 to Dec. 20 (omit 11/22)
Times: 10 a.m. to 10:45am
Ages: 1-5 yrs. w/ caregiver

NEW this season!  Help your child develop a love of books.  Through circle time, finger plays, acting and crafts, our instructor will make stories come alive!  Popular titles as well as some unfamiliar gems will be read to your child and you.  Activities will follow pertaining to the book.

“Wee” DANCE 5 classes

Session: Tues., Nov. 13 – Dec. 11
Times: 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Ages: 2-5 yrs. w/ caregiver

NEW this season!  A creative movement-based introduction to dance, this class will introduce students to basic ballet steps and movement while developing gross and fine motor skills.  Through games and creative play, students will foster their imagination and develop a love of dance and movement.
