Championship Run Comes to End

Upper Moreland Little League finished its season Sunday a win shy of the state championship crown.

Despite losing the state championship game Sunday night, coach Mike Searles said "there were no hanging heads" among his Upper Moreland Little League team.

The junior level team, is, after all, section 8 champions and runners up for the state of Pennsylvania.

"We knew we played a good game," Searles said of the 4-1 loss to DuBois, which followed Upper Moreland's earlier 6-4 win Sunday afternoon.

"They had a fantastic run," Searles said. "We had a great time up here."

The team put in a lot of hard work and "deserved" to come so far, Searles said.

"The boys, they grew a lot," he said. "They turned into much better ball players."

Of course, there's always next year, now that the boys have had a "taste" of the state championship, Searles said.
