UMHS senior gets full football scholarship to Slippery Rock University

Terrell Watson signed an agreement that would give him a full ride to the D2 university in the fall.

Terrell Watson, an Upper Moreland High School senior, varsity outside line backer and defensive end football player, was given a full scholarship to play for and attend Slippery Rock Unversity in the fall.

His family and friends, along with the Golden Bears' head coach, Adam Beach, and UMHS principal Joy Perisho, were on-hand today at the high school to celebrate Watson's acceptance of the scholarship.

According to Beach, many varsity football players received partial scholarships this year to different colleges, but only Watson received a full scholarship.

"It's very rare that Division 2 [football teams] give a full ride," Beach said during the signing ceremony. "It shows their commitment to Terrell, and what he's going to do for the football program."

Beach explained that it's more typical for D2 scholarship money to be broken up into partial scholarships.

According to Beach, this occasion marks the first time in his six-year coaching tenure that a UMHS football player has received a full scholarship to a university.
